Position: 42-07.83 N 72-45.27 W
Altitude: 133 feet
Description: 
      A neighborhood park providing river access about 0.5 mile above Great River Bridge (Triple Bridges). Parking is available adjacent to river and at main park parking lot to the south. (20 plus spaces).
Note: Potentially dangerous bridge and dam complex about ½ mile downstream.

Put-In Directions (1.8 miles, 5 minutes):
From the Mass Pike Exit 3, Westfield, MA:
  1. At the end of the ramp, turn right at the stop light.
  2. Head southwest on Southampton Road toward Westfield center on Route 202 South.
  3. At mile 1.3, after crossing the Westfield River, turn right onto Orange Street.
  4. At mile 1.7, at the end of the street, turn right onto Shepard Street.
  5. Follow the street over the river dike into the park.  Used the first pull over on your right to park and launch.
Don't be shy! Driver right over the dike.
You will first encounter this sign.
Pull over in this gravel area next to the river and park.  The access is easy and there are picnic tables nearby.
[2] Hanover Street/River Walk - Mile 12.1
Position: 42-07.65 N 72-45.50 W
Altitude: 120 feet
Description: 
      Improved launch point just downstream from new Great River Bridge near downtown Westfield. Accessed from Westfield River Trail bikeway with parking available on Park Street at Hanover Street, about 100 yards from the river.

Put-In Directions (11.0 miles, 17 minutes):
From the Mass Pike Exit 3, Westfield, MA:
  1. At the end of the ramp, turn right at the stop light.
  2. Head southwest on Southampton Road toward Westfield center on Route 202 South.
  3. At mile 1.2, make a sharp left onto Elm Street/Union Avenue just before the clock tower on a middle island.
  4. Mak an immediate right onto Meadow Street.
  5. At mile 1.4,  turn left onto Hanover Street.
  6. At mile 1.5, park roadside, carry your boat over the dike and down grassy the trail to the river.
Westfield River Walk
 Overview
      The Westfield River Walk is a 1.7 mile stone-dust walking path which provides views of the Westfield River, the Great River Bridges and various city parks.  The path can be accessed with parking from Whitney Playground, Kane/Wojtkiewicz Park, and Chapman Playground or from various streets if walking.  The path also intersects with the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail near Sackett Street.

[3] Conservation Land Access - Mile 7.4

Altitude: 96 feet
Description: 
  • This pull-over is dangerous.  Use caution because of fast moving traffic
  • The access is next door to the CrossLight Gospel Church, formerly known as Slavic Pentecostal Church.
  • There is paved parking for about 6 vehicles.
  • Car top launch only.
  • Carry your boat across the grassy area to the river.

Put-In Directions (5.9 miles, 11 minutes):
From the Interstate 91 Exit 7, downtown Springfield, MA:
  1. At the end of the ramp, turn right at the stop light.
  2. Head over the Memorial Bridge.
  3. At mile 0.5, at the traffic circle,turn right onto Route 5 North.
  4. At mile 2.2, at the stop light, turn left onto E Elm Street.
  5. At mile 2.3, turn left to continue on Elm Street.
  6. At mile 2.4, turn right onto Kings Hwy, Route 20 West.
  7. At mile 5.9, very close to the river, turn left into the Conservation Land.
Park on this paved area.
Launch off the grassy area here.
